Call for Papers
Deadline for the submission of the abstract is February
15th 2008
The main objective of this workshop is to illustrate the
ultimate state of the art of portable diagnostic technologies for
monitoring cultural heritage and their general and specific
uses. Furthermore, during two round tables there will be the opportunity
to debate their possible future technological developments and to
discuss the need of establishing common “on site monitoring”
recommended protocols (parameters, devices, time steps etc.) and
proposing the creation of data treatment infrastructures in order
to link historic surfaces data to geographical positioning and climatic
conditions of the monitored structure.
TOPICS
Techniques to measure and evaluate the state of conservation of
various materials and their modifications due to the action of atmospheric
pollution, climatic and environmental factors and loads (colour,
salts, humidity, water, particulate deposit, soiling, corrosion,
thinning, creep, fissures, weakness, biodegradation, geo-mechanical
displacement), including modern image-based and 3D sampling technologies.
Techniques to measure and evaluate the performance (effectiveness
and durability) of conservation treatments used in restoration interventions
(cleaning, protection, consolidation) and their possible changes
(organic and inorganic products).
