The future orientations of higher education in the South, South-West
and Central Asia will gather ministers, educationists, NGOs, policy
makers and other senior experts from 14 countries in New Delhi, India
from 25 to 26 February 2009
The conference is being organized by India’s Ministry of
Human Resource Development and the National University of Educational
Planning and Administration, in collaboration with UNESCO. It is
one of the preparatory meetings leading up to the 2009 World Conference
on the New Dynamics of Higher Education, being held in Paris in
July 2009.
The meeting in India will examine crucial issues such as access,
equity, financing, governance, quality assurance and social responsibility
of higher education. It will also examine how research is conducted,
and the impact of information and communication technologies for
creating local knowledge content and reaching education for all.
