| Summary: |
Since the ratification by Kenya of the 1972 Convention in 1991, four
Kenyan sites have been inscribed on the World Heritage List. In order
to plan a strategy for future nominations and to take a stock of sites
in Kenya that may have outstanding universal value, the National Museums
of Kenya is convening this stakeholder meeting.
The meeting, which is financed by UNESCO Nairobi Office, examines
the results of desk studies conducted by Kenyan experts as well
as proposals received from general public.
Basing itself on the results of the meeting, Kenya will revise
its Tentative List in the first half of 2009, to include new sites
that may be nominated for the World Heritage List. |
