The Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC) is a subsidiary body of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). Its 5th meeting (CRIC 5) will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 12-21 March 2007.

Using country reports and a review of implementation as a basis, CRIC 5 will address many issues such as drought and desertification monitoring and assessment and participatory processes. It will serve to identify and synthesize best practices; experiences and lessons learned; ways and means of promoting know-how and technology transfer, in particular from the developed countries to the developing countries, for combating desertification and/or mitigating the effects of drought; and propose concrete recommendations on further steps in the implementation of the Convention. The Committee will also review the report of the celebration of the International Year of Deserts and Desertification 2006 (IYDD).
