Summary:

The objectives of this first capacity-building meeting are to establish procedures on the manner in which each State Party will implement the training modules and to plan conservation projects to be implemented in 2007 and onwards.

Twelve Caribbean State Parties and related academic institutions are currently participating in this sub-regional programme that aims to:

  • build and strengthen capacities in heritage management;
  • foster cooperation in the region; and
  • contribute to understanding the synergies between heritage conservation and new developments.

The Caribbean Capacity Building Programme (CCBP) is promoted and hosted by the UNESCO Office in Havana, and is implemented in close collaboration with the World Heritage Centre and the field offices in Kingston and Port-of-Prince.
