Summary:

Even though we have just returned from the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Society for American Archaeology, it is time to start planning your participation in next year’s meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. We are excited to hold the annual meeting in Atlanta due to its accessibility from virtually everywhere and its springtime beauty.

Following is the revised Call for Submissions for SAA’s 74th Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, April 22-26, 2009. Beginning with the 2009 annual meeting, the only submission format will be electronic via the web. Last year, there was a record breaking number of submissions (over 2,800), and all but two sessions were submitted via the web system. The Board of Directors has opted to make the web the sole means of submission. Of course, you may submit via the web and print a summary sheet to mail or fax payment, if you do not want to pay via the secure web payment system.

The web-based system will be open for submissions on April 22, 2008. For those who submitted in 2008, you will notice enhancements and changes based on user feedback. Once available, you will be able to access the system by visiting the SAA homepage (www.saa.org) and clicking the “2009 Annual Meeting Submissions” button. The only submissions deadline is Wednesday, September 10, 2008. There is no grace period, as all submissions are electronic. There are no late fees, as nothing may be submitted after the deadline, and changes to a submission may be made only up until the deadline, Wednesday, September 10, 2008.
