Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Summary: This meeting is organized, in close consultation with the Afghan Authorities and international experts, to identify the next priority actions to be undertaken on the sites of Jam and Herat, with particular importance being given to the long-term consolidation and stabilization of the Minaret of Jam and the Fifth Minaret in Herat.

About 20 participants, including Afghan officials and experts, a representative from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international experts as well as ICCROM, ICOMOS and UNESCO representatives, will take part.

The meeting is organized by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the UNESCO Office in Kabul within the framework of the UNESCO/Italy Funds-in-Trust "Emergency Consolidation and Restoration of Monuments in Herat and Jam" and the UNESCO/Swiss Funds-in-Trust “Emergency Consolidation and Restoration of the Site of Jam” projects.
