Certainly, the implementation of cultural heritage actions is linked
to its use and enjoyment by society, and this heritage must be managed
in a sustainable way, as the perishable product it is. Similarly,
it is unquestionable that the management of cultural heritage has
to be economically profitable, and therefore, it contributes to
the improvement of the socioeconomic conditions of society. Cultural
heritage is accepted as a resource capable to generate local economic
development. However, there is a lack of a valid methodology for
the measurement and evaluation of the impact of the cultural heritage
management of that contribution. It is necessary, therefore, to
deepen in the models, parameters and indicators that allow to measure
the contribution of the cultural heritage management to the local
development.
For that reason, this congress will welcome contributions to any
of the three following topics proposed:
1. Models and experiences of local development from the sustainable
management of cultural heritage.
2. Situation of the indicators of the local development plans based
on the use of cultural resources.
3. Institutional strengthening and governability, on a local scale,
and sustainable management of cultural heritage.
Always within the framework of the general topic: The management
of cultural heritage and the local development.
