
The Faculty of Constructions and the Department of Architecture
and Urban planning of the Universidad de Oriente, are pleased to
invite you to participate in the V International meeting City, Image
and Memory (V CIM), with the co-sponsorship of Forum UNESCO - University
and Heritage and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the regional
government of Andalusia, the Curator's Office of the City and the
UNAICC Province of Santiago de Cuba, which as in previous editions,
will be developed with the headquarters in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba,
from May 9 to 12, 2007.
Our city, the most Caribbean and hospitable of all Cuban cities,
founded in 1515 and unique in its condition of Hero of the Republic
of Cuba, in whose own and singular image, the distinguishing characteristics
of the fusion between the native and the foreign can be seen in
a spectacular geographic environment.
Its cheerful people, with strong historical and cultural traditions,
can show visitors a warm and welcoming city, with sites of value
with two monumental areas with the category of Heritage of the Humanity:
the site Castillo del Morro and fortified system of the entrance
of the bay and the cultural Site Archaeological Landscape First
Coffee Plantations, in addition to the presence of the French Tomb,
dance group of great tradition that deserved the category of Intangible
Heritage of the Humanity.
The meeting will be developed within the framework of the International
Conference University and Identity, held by our University de Oriente.

Presentation of papers
• Orally: 10-min. presentations and discussions in round
tables.
• Posters: 940 mm x 700 mm (maximum 2 posters per contribution
)
• Videos: as a complement of the papers (not longer than 10
minutes).
The technical committee will select those papers that contribute
to further discussion in the different thematic areas.
Audio-visuals: Powerpoint, multimedia, videotapes: VHS Format (NTSC)
Papers must be submitted in electronic format using Microsoft Word
(Arial pt. 12) and hardcopy, with one-line spacing and a maximum
of 12 pages (letter size), including images, plans and annexes.
Paragraphs should not start with an indentation and should be separated
by a single line spacing. Margins to be respected: 2.5 cm (top,
bottom, right and left). Notes and image captions must appear at
the end of the document, properly referenced in the text. It is
recommended to edit the text following these guidelines, and not
using double column, and different fonts and sizes.
Submit abstract of no more than 250 words in a separate sheet,
in Spanish, English and Portuguese. The abstract must include the
theme and sub-theme, title of paper, authors' names and biographies
including degree, scientific and/or educational status, institutions
they represent and e-mail addresses.
