Summary: This Gala-Concert 2008 organized by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (CCIFJ) celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the relationship between France and Japan. On this occasion CCIFJ and its members transfer the message of UNESCO, which is preservation and transmission of World Heritage, to the future generations. It also reflects the engagement of CCIF in favour of sustainable development and a new balance between man and nature.

This year, CCIFJ invites Missa Johnouchi, UNESCO Artist for Peace and Music Ambassador for the commemorative events of the 1300th Anniversary of Nara which will take place in 2010. Missa Johnouchi and her orchestra perform several compositions of her original music.

The theme of Torch-run concert is “a Journey of Heart on Silk Road from France to Japan”. To travel from France to Japan , you have to cross many other countries. As a consequence, it takes time to create close relationship between these two countries. With this concert, CCIFJ invites Japanese and French listeners to go on a journey from France to Japan via the Silk Road. The original music will transfer its scenery from past to present. Marie-Helene Clausse, first violinist of Paris National Opera Orchestra, will also perform in this concert.

This gala is also an event of benevolence since part of the receipts will be transferred to UNESCO to contribute to the safeguarding of World Heritage.
