Cultural
Heritage Laws Database
Looting, theft, illegal export and import, and illicit trafficking
of cultural property are international problems affecting all States
to various extents. Such an international problem is best fought
against by an international response. From a legal standpoint this
is the objective of this new UNESCO Database initiative : it will
make easily available the relevant national legislation, in the
country of origin as well as abroad, to organizations, institutions,
private entities or individuals having a legal question concerning
an object that may have been stolen or pillaged, and/or illegally
exported, imported or acquired.
