Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Photo Gallery: Return of 1,400 artefacts to National Museum of Afghanistan
Some 1,400 Afghan ethnographic and archaeological objects, preserved since 1999 at the Afghanistan Museum-in-Exile (Bubendorf, Switzerland) under the aegis of UNESCO, were handed over to the National Museum in Kabul on 16 March. Some of the most exceptional pieces were presented at a press conference organized in the National Museum of Afghanistan on 17 March, at 10 a.m.

   
Just published: Moveable Heritage Outreach Programme

This programme aims to inform museum visitors, users and owners of collections and concerned public on the value and significance of the different aspects of movable cultural properties. It also seeks to increase awareness of various members of the public on the importance of their contribution to the appropriate management of museum collections.

 

Museum in Docklands to apply as a "Site of Memory"
As part of its effort to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the British Slave Trade, the Museum in Docklands will announce its intention to apply for a trans-national serial nomination for World Heritage status on 22 March 2007 in advance of the 200th anniversary of the 1807 Abolition of the Slave Trade Act (25 March).

Virtual and interactive Achaemenid museum
It offers all the objects and images from a historical space-time frame, the Middle East from the Indo river to the Mediterranean, under the domination of the Achaemenid Persians, from 550 to 330 before Christ. It thus participates directly in the inventory and analysis of a unique cultural heritage currently scattered around dozens of museums and collections worldwide.

UNESCO/ICOM Museum Studies Training Package
The package and training programme, aiming at improving or enhancing the knowledge and competencies of museum personnel in developping countries, were prepared jointly by UNESCO and ICOM. The Russian version of these publications is presently under preparation.

Seminar on Museum Development for Timor-Leste in Melbourne (11-12 Dec 2006)
The University of Melbourne hosted a seminar and launch of the UNESCO/Timor Leste Museum to Museum Partnership. This programme supports the development of a museum programme of international standing to provide a focus for the preservation of cultural material, and the heritage of East Timor.
