Exhibition:
The First Emperor: China's Terracotta Army From 13 September
2007 to 6 April 2008. Brithish Museum, England
The exhibition explores one of the greatest archaeological discoveries
of the twentieth century, giving an insight into China’s First
Emperor, Qin Shihuangdi, and his legacy. The exhibition includes a
number of the world-famous terracotta warriors from Xi'an, China,
which were buried alongside the First Emperor in readiness for the
afterlife, as well as some of the most striking recent discoveries
made on the site. In introducing the idea of a unified state and effectively
creating China in 221 BC, the First Emperor of Qin created what is
today the oldest surviving political entity in the world. How that
state has survived, developed and is viewed today is explored through
events, lectures and debates around the exhibition. British

de Gestao nos Museus Portugueses” (Management Practices for
Portuguese Museums)
By Filipe Serra
The author collaborates regularly with the training courses that Setepés
offer. “With this book we try to contribute for a systematic
study of essential aspects related to the management in Portuguese
museums. It is a vast and diversified field with an evident practical
side. We started analysing the diverse key areas, as human resources
and financial resources, as marketing, which we consider structural
from a financial point of view” wrote the author. For more

- Paris - France
The first summer university of the Cité nationale de
l'histoire de l'immigration (Palais de la Porte Dorée, Paris,
France) is expected for July 2008. Still to be set the exact date
and the place. This summer university tries to mobilize at a same
time the agents of the network and means of research, in special
young scholars. It will provide the occasion to prepare the doctoral
school, expected for 2008, which is included in a willingness to
privilege the support to young scholars and foster international
openings. The summer University will consist in two parts: workshops,
for agents of the network, and an organized doctoral day around
a specific topic and opened to the young French and foreign scholars.

Exhibition:
The Song of the World - The Art of Safavid Iran, 1501–1736
Louvre Museum, Paris. From 10 October 2007 to 01 September 2008
With a sumptuous array of works, this exhibition outlines the evolution
of art in Iran under the Safavid Dynasty (1501–1736). Visual
arts are inextricably linked to the written word in Iranian culture,
and the ultimate theme remains the greatness of the world, a divine
creation. This relationship, which is evident in both painting and
decorative arts, whose motifs translate literary metaphors, intensified
during the Safavid period. Often misunderstood, Iranian art may
give the impression of being devoted to decoration alone. All the
details, however, are steeped in meaning. The key to their interpretation
is found in Persian literature.

Exhibition
- From Gilgamesh to Zénobie
Brussels, Real museums of Art and History, from December 6,
2007 to April 27, 2008.
This is a unique occasion to come and admire this heritage property,
as well as a dozen works of art that the Louvre Museum presents
to give still more brightness to this event. Given the present political
situation in the Middle East and Iran, it seems to be the moment
to remember the importance of the East with its rich past for the
constitution of our western world. In addition to an overview of
works of art that it defies the indifference thanks to its aesthetic
qualities and originality, dozens of other antiques represent other
landmarks in the visit of the exhibition, that remind the birth
of writing, the invention of accounting systems, the emergency of
the economy, the right and sciences, religious or moral Literature
as well as convictions …

Amaze,
understand, imagine - young people in the museum
The perception of children is different from the one of adults.
When they visit a museum they see it with different eyes. Whether
they are before a famous work of art, the cave of a bear in a diorama
or an area of technical experimentation, children and teenagers
react in a spontaneous way more that adults. Larger institutions
or small collections, the temples of culture are opened to the young
public progressively. "Amaze, understand, imagine - young people
in the museum" provides advice and suggestions to adults who
wish to visit a museum with children. |

From India to Japan, 10 years of acquisitions in the Guimet museum
Exhibition presented in the museum of Asian art and Guimet,
from June 13 to December 13 2007. Ten years 1996 – 2006
were specially rich in the land of new acquisitions. The itinerary-exhibition
organized in the permanent collections of the Guimet museum emphasizes
the exceptional enrichment, qualitative as well as quantitative,
from which the museum has benefitted during this period. A selection
of more than two hundred works from India to Japan sets out in an
original route with a specific signposting dedicated to this event.
A cultural demostration on a large scale that pays tribute to the
donors and their great generosity.

Opening
of Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine
The Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine has opened
its doors to the public in the Palais de Chaillot. Let us remember
that the first stage, in October of 2006, it had been inaugurated
the pavilion of contemporary architecture and the School of Chaillot.
Later, last 21 March, the museum had inaugurated the space dedicated
to temporary exhibitions, proposing therefore a partial discovery
of the place, looking forward for the definitive opening that took
place officially last September 19. It should be noted that Cité
de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine hosts the only collection
in the world dedicated to the architecture and takes care specially
of the history of architecture since the 12 century to our days.
A unique place to discover!
