Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean publishes the Spanish version of the training module for museums staff prepared by UNESCO and ICOM
The UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean has published the Spanish version of the training module for museum staff prepared by UNESCO and the International Council of Museums (ICOM), aimed at improving and strengthen the skills of museums staff. These materials will soon be available in the Portal of Culture of Latin America and the Caribbean of UNESCO and in a CD to be distributed by the Regional Office.

 

Exhibition: Islamic works of art of the Aga KhanMuseum. From October 5 2007 to January 7 2008. Museum of the Louvre. Paris, France
As a premiere of the opening of the Aga Khan Museum of Toronto, expected for 2011, this exhibition invites to discover a selection of works of art, from the magnificent Aga Khan collections. A number of pages from the more famous Iranian manuscript of the 16th century, the "Book of the kings" by Shah Tahmasp, two medieval clothes wonderfully conserved, handwritings of different forms as testimony of the aesthetic agitation of the Islamic world from Spain to India. The exhibition also approaches the looks of the Islamic world on the European or Chinese artistic productions. Finally, it presents the architectonic projct made by Fumihko Maki for the Aga Khan Museum.

Exhibition: The Mediterranean of the Phoenicians, from Tyr to Carthage. From November 6 from 2007 to April 20 2008. Institut of the Arab World, Paris, France
the Institute of the Arab World is pleased to invite you to a prodigious adventure around the Mediterranean, that of the Phoenicians during the first millenium before the Christian era. Navigators and merchants, Phoenicians are also known for having spread the alphabet and created great figures of mythology: Cadmos, Europe, Adonis… Although the Phoenician architecture is still little known, since few monuments have remained, on the contrary it is fascinating the estatues – which includes extraordinary sarcophages that will be displayed in the exhibition -, like the tangible culture that has been conserved and which is made up essentially of material objects of great refinement.

Celebration of the Cuban Culture day in Bayamo
139 years after October 20 1868, when La Bayamesa was sung for the first time in front of the church of Bayamo, and later became the Cuban National anthem, after the long Cuban independence war in that region, the national event was celebrated again. Within the framework of the Celebration of the Cubans, inaugurated with different events, including art presentations, tours and dissertations, among them the central conference dedicated to the independence process in Central America in charge of Hon. Mr. Estuardo Meneses, Ambassador of Guatemala in Cuba, after which it started the 9 edition of the Colloquium Tribute and Reflection, dedicated to heritage and the museums…

UNESCO maps museum heritage of Tajikistan
A recent UNESCO evaluation of more than 30 museums from the Sughd, Dushanbe, Khatlon and Pamir districts has discovered rich ethnographic and archaeological collections, as well as interesting materials on the Tajik civil war.
