Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

The Director-General opens an exhibition on contemporary art in Bahrain
On 19 June 2007, the Director-General of UNESCO, Koïchiro Matsuura, opened at Paris Headquarters, together with Sheika Mai Mohammed Al Khalifa, Under-Secretary for Cultural and National Heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and His Excellency Hashim Hasan Albash, Ambassador and Permanent delegate of Bahrain to UNESCO, an exhibition on contemporary art in Bahrain.

Director general celebrates the Francophonie
General Director, M. Koïchiro Matsuura, participated in a working lunch last June 12 by invitation of the President of the UNESCO Francophonie Group, Mme. Vera Lacoeuille , Permanent delegate of Sainte-Lucie, with the presence of M. Cultural Diversity at the heart of debate at summit of Heads of State of South-East Europe in Bucharest
“The unique dynamic across all these summits lies in the reiterated commitment of the leaders of South-East Europe to dialogue, understanding, reconciliation and peace,” UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura declared as he opened the fifth summit of heads of state of South-East Europe, which is taking place on 7 and 8 June in Bucharest and in Sibiu (Romania).

The Director-General opens a concert marking the 15th anniversary of Moldova’s membership to UNESCO
On 24 May 2007, the Director-General, Koïchiro Matsuura, opened together with Mrs Tatiana Lapicus, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Moldova, Mr Pierre de Cocatrix, representative of the Secretary-General of the Francophonie, and Ambassador Victoria Iftodi, Permanent Delegate of Moldova to UNESCO, a concert dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the membership of the Republic of Moldova to UNESCO and the 10th anniversary of the country’s membership of the Francophonie.
