Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

First-ever European Strategy for Culture
On 10th May 2007, the European Commission a policy statement on the role of culture in a globalising world. This statement proposes the first-ever European strategy for culture as it affirms the central role of culture in the European integration process. It proposes a cultural agenda for Europe, and for its relations with third countries.

The economic value of culture in Spain
Statistical analysis based on the quantification of the importance culture as a source of economic development. The project can be compared with some pioneering international studies conducted in Canada or the United Kingdom. Starting from the National Accounting classifications, it analyses the presence of creative activity in the National Classification of Economic Activities (NACE) and in the physical references of the Business Tax (IAE).

"Eurobarometer" survey: Eurobarometer qualitative study on the Europeans, culture and cultural values
In 2006, the European Commission (Directorate General Education and Culture) commissioned a qualitative Eurobarometer study to learn more about the perceptions Europeans have on culture and its contribution to developing a sense of community and belonging to a shared European area.

Opening of the second meeting of the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS)
On Tuesday, 17 July 2007 the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, opened the second meeting of the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS) at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, along with Mr Hamadoun Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and chairman of UNGIS.

UNESCO and Commonwealth of Learning pledge to strengthen cooperation in promoting quality education for all
Following their meeting at UNESCO Headquarters in May 2007, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO, and Sir John Daniel, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth of Learning, have signed a new Work Plan Agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two Organizations in the field of education.

1st International Fair of University Publications (COLOMBIA)
UNESCO chose Bogota in June 2005 as World Capital of books 2007, award that mobilized immediate and strategic actions among the different actors to strengthen the projects for the promotion of reading and writing habits among Bogota's citizens. Thus Unibiblos, publishing company of the National University of Colombia, as member of the University Publishers Association of Colombia - ASEUC- and head of the node center, has the mission to develop and coordinate strategies that allow to spread and promote the consumption and production of university publications in the city, the region and the country.
