The International Migration Museums Network promotes the exchange
of information and experiences on the culture of migrant populations
and the history of migration by supporting the creation of museums
on migration in both sending and receiving countries. The current
24 institutional members of the network provide information on their
activities via a multilingual website at www.migrationmuseums.org

the wealth and prosperity of the Edo and Meiji periods (1850-1900),

Osaka Museum of History, the stunning collection celebrates the
Immigration Museum’s 10th birthday and 30 years of the Melbourne-Osaka
sister-city relationship.

Temporary
exhibition: Situlae, images of a missing world
From 26 April to 5 October 2008. Bibracte Museum. France
The Latin word situla is the ancestor of the French word bucket.
Archaeologists have used it for a long time ago to designate metallic
containers of wide opening that served to prepare drinks in banquets.
For a period of two centuries, between 550 and 350 BC, bronze situles
used by the aristocracy of the regions located between the Po, to
the south, and the Danube, to the north, were sometimes decorated
with life stills of the court: banquets, huntings, military parades…

in Curating Contemporary Art, commencing in October 2008. The application
deadline is 25 June 2008. The M.A. in Curating
Contemporary Art is focused on the practical: between the making,
performance, distribution, and curating of art in the contexts of
its international markets. Students will be required to engage practically
and critically by developing personal curatorial projects. This

Argentina
launched Guide of Museums as part of the celebrations for the International
Museums Day
It collects information on more than 500 cultural institutions in
the country. As part of the celebrations for the International Museum
Day on Sunday 18 May, was launched the Guide of Museums prepared
by the Secretariat of Culture of the Nation in Argentina. The Guide
collects information on more than 500 cultural institutions in the
country. The presentation was made at the National Museum of Decorative
Arts and was attended by the Secretary of Culture of the Nation,
His Excellency José Nun; the Secretary of Tourism of the
Nation, His Excellency Enrique Meyer, and the National Director
of Heritage and Museums Ms. María de las Nieves Arias Incollá.
The Guide of more than 300 pages collects information on some 500
public and private museums in the country, organized by provinces.
For this occasion 2.000 copies were printed, which will be distributed
in museums, schools and universities...
