Magazine 303 – n. 100: PATRIMOINE(S)
PATRIMOINE(S) written in plural, because heritage is multiple: historical, industrial, natural, social, written, sung… but also because the definition of heritage has tended to expand itself for some decades to all classes of realities, provided they are judged worthy of interest by the different social groups. This issue has a triple function: recapitulative, reflective, prospective. As it is based on specific examples, it provides the occasion to wonder on the motivations that impel our society to safeguard, transmit and value the different forms of heritage, in particular, local forms, in a region that has it in abundance as it happens in Pays de la Loire.

Identity strategies for conservation and valuation of heritage
Under the direction of Jean-Claude Nemery, Michel Rautenberg and Fabrice Thuriot
ISBN : 978-2-296-04300-8

Heritage conservation and valuation strategies are closely related to the mobilization of resources and wealth - identified as expressions of an identity - present in a territory. This tangible or symbolic richness is inextricablely linked. It can be geologic resources, configurations, landscapes, a particular climate; it can also be institutions, infrastructures, including economic infrastructures, networks, polarization phenomena; it can be about historical heritage, values, the development of important events, a reputation related to economic or cultural characteristics, and even populations…

"Rendez-vous aux troglos" in 2009
The CATP, an association seeking to add value to cave-dwelling heritage, wants to organise a popular events programme based on the troglodyte phenomenon, the first instalment of which will take place on 6 and 7 June 2009. The principle of these “Rendez-vous aux troglos” is, over the course of a weekend, to open cave sites up to the public, whether the sites are public or private, and whether or not they are usually open to the public. The aim is to demonstrate a representative selection of forms, functions and usages associated, in the past and present, with cave-dwelling: habitats (primary or secondary), wine cellars, mushroom beds, storage sites, chapels, museums, farms, gîtes, restaurants, meeting rooms, pigeon lofts, workshops, and so on. In this first edition, the sites will be spread over the Maine-et-Loire and Indre-et-Loire départements and mainly located along the Loire and its tributaries.

The NAS Training Programme helps you learn more about archaeology, and offers you the opportunity to practice the techniques involved - above and below the water. Recognised by the major diving organisations, and by many heritage organisations across the world, the programme is an ideal way to gain experience in this fascinating discipline. The NAS has developed a modular training programme, which becomes progressively more advanced from the Introductory course through Parts I to IV. Most courses run over weekends, but there are a range of longer summer schools and projects, where you can gain more experience - and add to your qualification record. NAS is a member of NIACE - The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (England and Wales). NIACE promotes adult learning as an essential way of creating a more skilled and knowledgeable society.
