Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

First extraordinary session of the intergovernmental Committee for the protection and promotion of diversity of cultural expressions
On June 24, 2008 in the headquarters of UNESCO, the Director-General opened the first extraordinary session of the intergovernmental Committee for the protection and promotion of diversity of cultural expressions. The Chairperson of the executive Council, Mr. Olabiyi Babalola Joseph Yaï, attended this opening ceremony. In his speech, Mr. Matsuura emphasized "the considerable interest" and the expectations of the international community before the 2005 Agreement, already ratified "at a constant rate" on the part of 84 Member States. He insisted on the importance that already has to have directives that will allow "to provide all the promises of this Agreement"…

Iranian Cultural Heritage week marks 60 years of membership of UNESCO
On Tuesday 24 June, UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura joined H.E.Mohammed Reza Majidi, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Islamic Republic of Iran to inaugurate an exhibition at the Organization’s Headquarters highlighting the country’s tangible and intangible heritage, one of a series of events of a cultural week commemorating the 60th anniversary of its adhesion to UNESCO.
