Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

2008 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation – Call for Entries
Entries are now being accepted for the 2008 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The awards programme, in its ninth year, recognizes the achievement of individuals and organizations within the private sector, and public-private initiatives, in successfully restoring structures of heritage value in the Asia-Pacific region. The deadline for receipt of materials is 31 March 2008. In addition to the established awards, entries are also accepted for the Jury Commendation for Innovation to recognize newly-built structures which demonstrate outstanding standards for contemporary architectural design that are well-integrated into historic contexts. Projects involving buildings more than fifty years old and which were completed within the last ten years are eligible for consideration. Houses, commercial, cultural, religious, industrial or institutional buildings, gardens and bridges, for example, are all eligible for consideration. Public-private partnership projects such as historic towns, urban quarters and rural settlements where the essential elements are more than 50 years old are all eligible...

The British Council launches the Champions of climate 2008
The British Council, United Kingdom’s international agency for cultural relations, launches its new initiative on climate change Champions of climate 2008. In association with the school and nature Network, the British Council sends a "warning search" to find French young people aged 16 to 19 totally committed in the fight against climate change. Each Champion will act as ambassador of the climate change during one year. The winners will start their own projects with the objective to convince their surroundings so that they commit themselves in positive actions to reduce CO2 emission and some of these champions also will be selected to gather in an international team of young Champions of climate to meet the ministers of environment during the meeting of the G8 in Japan in the next month of May…

DEBEQ scholarships - Development and International co –operation scholarships
La Generalitat de Catalunya has started the call for entries for DEBEQ scholarships - International co-operation and development scholarships. Type A grants are aimed at the incorporation of foreign students to postgraduate programs and masters in the field of co-operation and development. In the University of Barcelona it is possible to take the following courses: Postgraduate Course in Cultural Tourism, Postgraduate Course in Cultural Co-operation and Management, Masters in Cultural Heritage management, Masters in Cultural Management, PhD Program in Management of Culture and Heritage. Getty Foundation Grant Announcement For Icom-CC New Delhi 2008 (22-26 SEP 2008)
Thanks to The Getty Foundation, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) is able to offer a limited number of bursaries to conservation professionals from low-income countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Latin America, to attend the 15th Triennial Conference of ICOM’s International Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC) in New Delhi, India, 22-26 September 2008. Applicants must be individual members of ICOM, or Friends/Student Friend of ICOM-CC, or work for an institution that is an institutional member of ICOM and must be qualified museum and/or conservation professionals with a minimum of 3 years experience and must be currently employed in a museum or related institution.

Launch of third cycle of UNESCO-Vocation Patrimoine Fellowships for World Heritage site managers
Training World Heritage site managers is one of the most valuable investments in heritage conservation, particularly as these sites confront the challenges of increasing flows of tourism and diminishing flows of international assistance for conservation and management. This is why UNESCO's World Heritage Centre has joined forces - for the third year running - in an innovative public-private partnership to offer Fellowships through the UNESCO-Association Vocations Patrimoine World Heritage Site Managers Programme.

Launching of the Clio Prize 2008 for archaeological research
Founded in 1997 to encourage and support the French archaeological research abroad, the Clio Prize is open to all the French or francophone teams of archaeological works in course. The teams who wish to compete must send to Clio before the 30 of April of 2008 a 4-6 page document with a synthesis of their works and projects. The European Archaeological Heritage Prize 2008. CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
An independent committee awards the prize annually to an individual, institution or government (local or regional) for an outstanding contribution to the protection and presentation of the European archaeological heritage. In principle, this can be any contribution that is outstanding and of European scope or importance, it does not have to be a scientific contribution. The prize for 2008 will be awarded during the Annual Meeting of the EAA in Valletta, Malta, on Wednesday, 17 September 2008. The Committee will discuss all serious proposals for the award. Nominations may be made by any of the following: Members of the Association (all grades of membership); Professors and heads of departments of archaeology in European universities and institutes; Directors of governmental heritage management organisations and agencies in European countries (members of the Council of Europe) and Non-governmental archaeological, heritage and professional organisations in European countries.

Collections Management and Information Internships at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)
With one of the largest online catalogues of any art museum in the U.S., LACMA is a leader in museum web programming. The CMI Internship provides students with an overview of the many steps and issues involved in web publishing. Students will participate in digitizing one-of-a-kind museum artifacts, including researching, preparing and editing collection information for release on the website. Through hands-on projects and discussion in internal meetings, students will become familiar with the following topics: website design and organization, technical protocols, copyright requirements, tracking public use, audience expectations and evaluation, collaborations with teachers, and grant funding. Students will deal with new web content relating to the museum's collections, exhibitions and institutional archives.
