into tourism guides has been given an award by the IUCN World
Commission on Protected Areas and the International Ranger Federation.

Honours outstanding achievers for protected areas
Countries around the world have set aside more than 12% of the
earth’s land surface as protected areas - a remarkable achievement.
Even more remarkable are the efforts of individuals who have worked
tirelessly to promote and protect these unique areas, often at
great personal risk and danger. IUCN honors such people through
the Fred Packard Award – a key award made by IUCN’s
World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) to recognize globally
outstanding service to protected areas. The following seven outstanding
individuals will be recognized at the WCPA Members meeting on
4 October, held prior to the IUCN World Conservation Congress.

Albania focus predominantly on rehabilitating cultural monuments,
with a secondary priority for leveraging Albania’s culture

heights by the carriers of higher civilizations developed on the
plateau. Immense works are open then, on which North American,
English, German, and also French work around Stephan Rostain who
has studied for twenty-five years the known archaeological vestiges
on the Guyana coasts, at the same time as the evolution of its
landscape…

Watch nominations are now being accepted – deadline for

cultural heritage around the world that is threatened by the forces
of nature and society. From archaeological sites to iconic architecture,
cultural landscapes to historic city centres, the Watch identifies
places of significance in need of timely action. Every two years,
WMF accepts new nominations to the Watch, from which 100 are selected

advance innovation and collaboration, and demonstrate effective
solutions. The Watch nomination process also serves as a vehicle
