- Exhibition:
“J' envoie saluts” by artist Jean Dupuy
From 8 March to September 7, 2009. Solutré Museum (France)
Every year, the departmental museum of Prehistory of Solutré
proposes its visitors to discover a Contemporary art exhibition.
The museum thus wishes to establish parallelisms between the knowledge
of the previous living styles and the present artistic research.
In collaboration with the Regional Fund of Contemporary art of
Burgundy, this year, Jean Dupuy has been invited to temporarily
occupy the central space of the museum usually devoted to historical
works, as well as more recent creations, pertaining to the Frac
Bourgogne collection or to the personal collection of the artist.

- "Series
on the evolving role of Peace Museums in the 21st Century"
Part I
UNITAR is proud to announce the launch of a three-part Roundtable
series focusing on the evolving role of Peace Museums in the 21st
Century, to take place throughout 2009. The first session, on
the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, will be followed later in
the year by a similar session devoted to Nagasaki, culminating
in a panel discussion focusing also on museums in societies emerging
from conflict. Targeted at museum scholars and curators, peace-builders,
culture specialists and the general public, the topic will be
first addressed by Mr. Koichiro Maeda, Director of the Hiroshima
Peace Memorial Museum. Mr. Maeda has been working for the Hiroshima
City Government since 1974. He served as Deputy Chief of the Museum
from 1994, then acted as director of the Hiroshima National Peace
Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, assuming his current
role in 2006.
- Classroom
Holocaust Museum (Croatia)
Miljenko Hajdarovic, member of the Croatian HTA editor of the
Croatian History Portal and teacher at the Elementary School „Petar
Zrinski" Senkovec in Croatia has been working on the "Holocaust
Museum Project" , a project aiming to teach students about
Holocaust via engaging them in creating a Holocaust Museum in
their classroom. This way students work closely with their teachers
and learn about genocide, anti-Semitism and Nazism and they use
case studies of people, especially of children of their age relating
them to their personal stories. Children become the tour guides
for their own museum and can present the public their collection
of material related to Holocaust.
