Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

  • Opening ceremony of the international mother tongue Day
    The Director-General of UNESCO, Mr. Koïchiro Matsuura, attended on February 20, 2009 in the UNESCO headquarters the opening ceremony of the international mother tongue Day. Ambassador Olabiyi Babalola Joseph Yaï, the Chairperson of the executive Council, Mr. Adama Samassékou, Chairperson of the African Academy of languages , and Ambassador Enamul Kabir, permanent delegate of Bangladesh for UNESCO also participated in this ceremony.

  • The Director-General opens an exhibition on Czech living traditions
    On 17 February 2009, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO, opened an exhibition on Czech living traditions at the Organization’s Headquarters in the company of Mr Vaclav Jehlicka, Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic and Ambassador Petr Janycka, Permanent Delegate of the Czech Republic to UNESCO. The exhibition is entitled “Homo Faber”, and was organized in the framework of the current Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union.
  • Director-General visits the Kingdom of Bahrain
    Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO, paid his second official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain from 25 to 27 February 2009. On 26 February, the Director-General was received in audience by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. During their meeting, held in the presence of Mr Majed Al Noaimi, Minister of Education, and Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Minister of Culture and Information, they discussed the fruitful cooperation that exists between Bahrain and the Organization.
