- COMPETITIONS - International Climate Change Campaign
tcktcktck partners with Internews on Human Voices Award
Campaign Co-Founder Kofi Annan: "We Must End the
Deathly Silence Around This Issue". The global media development
organization Internews today announced a partnership with the
tcktcktck campaign, a movement backed by some of the world's most
recognized political leaders and non government organisations,
to ensure that those already affected by climate change are heard
by governments negotiating at the United Nations Climate Change
Conference in Copenhagen this December.

- AWARDS - Breathtaking setting for European Heritage
Awards Ceremony
Highlight of the Annual Congress was the European Heritage Awards
Ceremony, held in Taormina’sTeatro Antico with a smoking
Mount Etna providing a dramatic backdrop, and the city’s
Plectrum Orchestra providing atmospheric musical interludes. Laureates
were presented through short video clips explaining the unique
and important contribution each of the winning heritage achievements
have made to conserving and enhancing Europe’s rich cultural
heritage. The Award certificates were presented to the Laureates
by Europa Nostra departing President, S.A.R. la Infanta Doña
Pilar de Borbón, Mr Bernd Biervert, Member of the Cabinet
of Mr Ján Figel’, Member of the European Commission
responsible for Education, Training, Culture and Youth, and the
relevant Heritage Awards Jury Chairman. Excitement was palpable
as the top 7 Grand Prize winners were disclosed to the waiting
audience.

- COMPETITIONS - The European Commission challenges the
context of the European Year of Creativity you to "Imagine
a new world". through photography
In the context of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation
(EYCI) 2009, the European Commission has just launched the "Imagine
a new world" photo competition. Professional and amateur
photographers of all ages from across the EU are invited to express
their creativity. A prestigious jury will select the winners who
will receive prizes in photographic equipment and trips to EU
cities. The deadline to submit the photos is 31 August 2009.

- COMPETITONS - Rome Prize 2010 Competition from the American
Academy in Rome
The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome
Prize competition. One of the leading overseas centers for independent
study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities, the
Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from
six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the Academy's
eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a study
or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are
$12,500 and stipends for eleven-month fellowships are $25,000.
Fellowships are awarded in the following related fields:
- Architecture
- Design (including graphic, fashion, industrial, interior,
lighting, set, and sound design, engineering, urban planning,
and other related design fields)
- Landscape Architecture
- Historic Preservation and Conservation (including architectural
design, public policy, and the conservation of works of art)
Fellowships are also awarded in: Literature*; Musical Composition;
Visual Arts; Ancient Studies; Medieval Studies; Renaissance
and Early Modern Studies; and Modern Italian Studies *awarded
by nomination through the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

- AWARDS - Europa Nostra 2010 Awards - Call for entries

Each year, Europa Nostra and the European Union reward the best
of cultural heritage achievements. Through our European Union
Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, we celebrate
excellence and dedication by architects, craftsmen, volunteers,
schools, local communities, heritage owners and media. Through
the power of their example we stimulate creativity and innovation.
The awards celebrate exemplary restorations and initiatives of
the many facets of Europe’s cultural heritage in 4 categories,
described below. Every year, up to six monetary awards of €10.000
each are awarded to the top laureates in the various categories.
Criteria for the assessment of entries include excellence in the
work executed and preliminary research conducted, as well as respect
for artistic, cultural and social value, setting, authenticity
and integrity. Special attention will also be paid to sustainability,
interpretation and presentation, educational work, funding and
management, and social responsibility. Entries can be on a scale
ranging from small to large, local to international, and should
display a standard of work considered outstanding in a European

- EU/Education: New grants under Erasmus Mundus
The European Commission has awarded almost 10,000 new grants to
be funded by the Erasmus Mundus programme in the academic year
2009-2010. In 2009, a new selection of students and academics
from all over the world will receive scholarships to study or
teach in one of the 103 Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses. These
courses are provided by consortia of Europe's top higher education
institutions, and lead to the award of a recognised double/multiple
or joint Masters degree. The courses and the scholarships together
meet the overall objectives of Erasmus Mundus to enhance the quality
of European higher education and promote it around the world.
Erasmus Mundus will also support 39 international institutional
partnerships for higher education mobility, funding collaboration
between European higher education institutions and those from
countries targeted by EU external co-operation policy. The aim
is to contribute to the development of human resources and the
capacities for international co-operation of higher education
institutions in non-European countries through mobility between
the European Union and these countries.

- AWARDS - Cultural Policy Research Award: 6 candidates
to be shortlisted by early September
The members of the jury for the 6th edition of the Cultural
Policy Research Award are in process of evaluating the 31 candidacies
that have been submitted. On 1 September, they will present a
shortlist of six candidates, who will be invited to attend the
ENCATC Annual Conference from 22 to 24 October in Barcelona for
the final selection process. The winner of the CPR Award 2009,
worth Euro 10.000, will be announced at the conference. The CPRA
represents the joint initiative of the European Cultural Foundation
and the Riksbankens Jublileumsfond. ENCATC administers the award
as part of their ongoing commitment to cultural policy research
and education. The ultimate aim is to contribute to creating a
European competitive research area by supporting capacity-building
in cultural policy research, and thus the production on new knowledge.

- COMPETITIONS - Competition for Image Models of 20th-c.
Heritage
This project focuses on an international student competition for
digital representations of landmark 20th century buildings. The
competition will be run entirely through the Internet. An initial
national competition will be carried out by the UIA Member Sections
and the winners of the national selections will be submitted to
the international jury. The panoramas and 3D models designed for
this competition will be based on digital photographs and developed
using the Autodesk software ‘Autodesk® ImageModeler™’
and ‘Autodesk® Stitcher™’. This software
will be made available to the participants free of charge for
a period of three months. The competition will be launched during
the European celebration of Architectural Heritage Days, organised
by the Minister of Culture and Communication on 19 & 20 September
2009. Project submissions are planned for April 2010. The grand
prize winners and all projects selected at the national level
will be exhibited at the Venice biennial in September 2010.

an enthusiastic and experienced person to join its heritage team
in caring for this environmental heritage which has a local, regional
and, in many instances, a nationally recognised level of heritage
significance.Your primary roles are to provide advice on heritage-related
development applications and heritage matters in general and to

con lo scopo di favorire la conoscenza delle collezioni e di Palazzo
Madama. La fotografia sarà l’occhio con cui i visitatori
racconteranno al museo come vivono, insieme ad amici e familiari,
la loro esperienza di visita, il rapporto con le opere, con le
sale del palazzo, con la storia del museo. Per questo le foto
dovranno preferibilmente ritrarre le persone in rapporto allo
spazio museale, e non solo le opere. Il concorso si inserisce
nelle iniziative della Fondazione Torino Musei “Sguardi
